In 2010, at the age of 19, our founder Chris and his siblings unexpectedly lost their mother and sole parent. As a result, they took on the parenting responsibilities for their younger 15-year-old sister during a period of financial hardship, housing instability and distress. This time brought shared grief, poverty, poor mental health, and significant emotional strain and resentment. Their mother was insolvent at the time of passing and learning to navigate the benefit system was a struggle. They had to leave college in order to work and help cover costs, but even then life remained difficult. Despite these challenges, both siblings persevered until the younger sister moved on at 18 and Chris later returned to education...
